Watched "Who wants to be a millionaire": Children's Day special. They invited a few children aged 4-6 to participate in today and next week's prog.
I have to say kidz are very clever nowadays. Brave too. The participants looked very calm on the show. Juz that they don't know how to make wise decisions to benefit themselves. Heh.
The 2 participants today didn't know how to make use of their life lines. Especially the cute lil boy, Kaixuan, he insisted that Singapore has only one race despite hints and pleads from the host and the audience to ask him to consider using the life lines. Itz a funny sight to see how persistant Kaixuan was. =P By the way, Kaixuan has a girlfriend.
Love watching variety programs about kidz. They're soooooo adorable. Their actions, words and interaction with adults can be very hilarious. Makes me laugh. =D Too bad, I missed yesterday's "Singapore's Brainiest Kid".
Din know when is Confucius' bday until today when I went to help out in the Confucius Bday celebration carnival at Joo Chiat Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) temple today. This event is jointly organised by Wanlin's fren, Linus and the temple.
Though I only had 4 hours of sleep, I din show any tireness while working there. There were so much of fun. I was in-charge of giving out free ice-creams with Sharry. But later, I took over the job of giving out free balloons to kidz. Yes, kidz AGAIN...! Oh, but u never know the joy I had when I saw the kidz' contented smiles when they got their fave color balloons. =) We gals even made sure that the kidz call us "Jie Jie" (Sister) instead of Auntie before they got their balloons. Heh. Oh, I also realised that balloons are great weights to train the biceps and triceps.
Towards the end of the event, I went back to giving out ice-creams. We gave out so many ice-creams even to those without coupons but we still have tons of ice-cream left. Itz more than enough for me to eat for 10 years. In the end, we were so desperate that we offered 10 sticks when the person only asked for one. Haha.
After the event, I went to Kinokuniya @ Liang Court with Sharry. There was a 20% discount on all books islandwide. So tempting!!! Remember my love for books? In the end, I spent my salary of the day on books. =P
He's adorable, VERY active, obedient (most of the time). I don't get to see him often and I miss him everyday. I love him alot. He's my darling - Spotty. *tada*
Isn't he lovely?
Gotcha, no? Heh. This Jack Russell was a birthday gift from Bro to his girlfriend last year. Itz one year old already. Still can remember the days when I "baby-sitted" it. Bro n gf went dating and left 3 month old Spotty with me.
But Mummy is afraid of small (furry) animals, including cute lil' Spotty, and hates to see Spotty's poo-poo and fur dirtying the house. So from then on, I only got to see Spotty twice only.
Maybe I have this affinity with Spotty. Even though I don't get to meet him often, he still remembers me. He'll wags itz tail whenever he sees me and greets me with his cheerful barks. =)
Spotty loves to lie on his back and let us rub itz tummy. See.....
As he's still a virgin, some censoring should be done to protect him. Hee.
P/S: Taking pics for him is a painz. He can nv sit still.
Went to the BASC centre. Worked OT without pay. Supposed to leave with the last student at 7pm but I stayed till 7:40pm.
Oh well, I was writing letters to my students - about 22 of them. Haha. Was crapping in those letters anyway. Common opening line - "How are you?" or "How's your day?". I even purposely write a huge greeting, "Hi whoever" to waste some space. It's pretty difficult to use the simplest words (for Pri sch level) to get my message across. And at the end of the day, I feel that I can crap pretty well. *dang*
Got inspired to write when I saw some gals exchanging letters with those in the morning session. =) They even left sweets for one another in their designated drawers. It reminded me of my childhood when my classmates and I love to write to one another bitchin' abt others during class. Even in sec school, I still do it. Heh. Now I still write to my frenz, whenever I feel like it.
Yesterday, I was sharing with ya my passion for reading and now, I'm talking about my passion for writing. =)
Ermz.....I dun write poems, essays, what not. I juz simply love writing and scribbling stuff (mostly nonsense). I love stationery, paper, letter pads and postcards too. =)
I tink I can express myself better in words. I tend to offend others with my babblings, u see. And when I write, I tend to be more emotional. Still I suck at expressing myself. XP
I feel accomplished after reading "Confessions of a Shopaholic" (also known as "Secret World of a Shopaholic")!! 6 days. It's all I took. I'm elated.
Happy over the slightest thing? Easily contented? Should be. =P
I dislike reading English novels. And for my entire life (till now), believe it or not, I've only completed one novel, Richard Bach's "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". Although I read books by Jeffrey Archer, Agatha Christie, Catherine Lim etc, it's either that I'll give up reading halfway (maybe not even half) or they're short stories books (where I choose which stories to read).
So, being able to finish "Confessions of a Shopaholic", is a record. A miracle. Whatever. I've always been wanting to read the Shopaholic series since it was out 2 years ago. Waited so long - being a cheapskate. And last week, I juz happened to stumble upon the book in Woodlands Library. *Yippie*
Now, I'm sooooo addicted to the book. I imagine myself as the shopaholic - Rebecca Bloomwood. I wish the book can be made into a film or drama, with me being the female lead. *Pukez* And I wanna buy the "Shopaholic Trilogy". Even went to Ebay to see if there's any good bargain on these books. =)
I love bookstores and libraries too. Love the feeling of being surrounded by books, reading them, breathing them. Not surprising of me to spend my whole day in Kino/Borders/libraries. *Sounds geeky* Boring too.
Oh.....I'm in the mood of reading. Off to indulge myself in my fave Chinese author, Zhang Xiao Xian's latest work. =)
Oh well, supposed to be too tired to blog. But I'm waken up by Tesh's compliments.
Everyone loves praises, dun u? Some need them to boost their ego (huge ones), while some need them to fill up their inferiority. I'm the latter. U see, I dun get praises often (maybe juz once or twice over the blue moon?) but I give them out as much as I can. Praises make one happy, why not? I love to make others happy. At least I try not to upset them, which I probably always do.
Tesh gave me her comments abt my bloggy. She said this bloggy is cracking her up and is interesting to read. *widest smile*
Wow, at last I have some sense of humour!! Always wonder if I have any. Tot I can only make kidz laugh at my stupid dramatic facial expressions or funny accent. Moreover, kidz laugh at the slightest thing, I presume.
Alritez, I'll (have to) strive (very) hard to make everyone ard me happy. =) *Yawnz* Off to Lala-Land!! Ciao.
Currently, though I'm working part-time as a Before & After School Care (BASC) teacher and a character coach, I'm offered two more jobs.
Both jobs appeal to me alotz. They are both related to what I've learnt - Mass Communications. The first job is introduced by my cousin's pastor to a radio station - Rediffusion. It has 55 yrs of history. I nv heard of it before but I'm sure our parents have. It'z like Cable TV, we have to pay to listen to this station.
The second job is introduced by Tesh. The publisher she's working for is planning to start a new magazine for the younger generation. Tesh is given the task to come up with it so she tries to rope her fren Michelle and me in.
And now, I'm having this dilemma. Which job should I take? Radio has always been my passion but the new magazine sounds fun to work with. Argh. Anyhow, I feel that I'm incompetent for both jobs and both might not be considered as full-time basis job. Sigh. But on the other hand, they give me ample of opportunities and room for creativity.
I'm at the crossroad again. Maybe you can give me some suggestions?
Hi all, I've juz added a new feature into this bloggy. At the right column - My Latest Crush.
Oh well, as some of you might have known, I'm famous (notorious more like it) for saying, "Ohhh....he's soooo cute!!" or "Wah....he's soooo handsome!!" So, I juz add this feature in to share with you my latest "love". Heh. Boy crazy, m I?? =P
As you can see, currently itz Takeshi Kaneshiro who top the list. Coz I juz watched his latest movie, "Turn Left Turn Right". Nice show, at least in my pt of view. It'z entertaining n romantic. Straits Times and some other movie reviews din have good comments about the movie. But I have to agree that the illustration book is much poetic. I love the illustrator Jimmy Liao. His drawings are simple yet poetic. *Thumbs up*
Nevertheless, Takeshi is soooo gorgeous in the movie. Dun like the female lead - Gigi Leung though. Oh, keep track of my new feature coz I'll update it pretty often I guess. I'm a fickle-minded pig! Heh.
I love Chinese festivals. Always got goodies to eat. Ba Kua (Pork slices), dumplings and today, mooncakes. Itz Lantern/Mooncake festival on this fateful day - Sept 11.
Suppsed to be on diet, a life-long project for me. But I can't resist the temptations of the following....
Bird's Nest Mooncake!!! Grandpa shared these with us. First time trying. Verdict: I only like itz skin n bird's nest. Haha.
Brother n girlfriend bought these from Ritz Carlton. Verdict: Nice! Itz Pandan n white lotus paste. I like. But not the single yolk in it.
Given to Mummy. From Goodwood Park Hotel. Durian Snowskin mooncake. Verdict: Lovely! Esp when I have craving for durian. Haha. Fave fruit.
Well, as u can tell, I love snowskin mooncake. =) Others are fine too. As long as I get to eat. Haha, I'm a pig wat. But too badz, I dun get to play with any lanterns. Too old for it liaoz. Anywayz, the young Chinese dun care about these festivals, right?
Tired....Very tired.....Extremely tired!!! Can't expect much from a nocturnal pig especially when she has to wake up at 7am, arrive at her workplace at 9 to handle kidz all the way till 5pm. I even OT to make sure a lil gal finish her homework. Luckily, the kidz from the centre are more well-behaved than the last time I took care of them.
On my way home, I fell aslp while standing in the train. I almost fell on my knees; it was halfway thru anywayz. Pretty embarassing but din have the energy to bother and juz continued sleeping.
Alritez, got to sleep now. Or else I wun be able to wake up on time tmr.
P/S: Pardon me, if the above sentences sound nonsensical to you. Told you that u can't expect much from this pig whose eyelids are half closed and mind totally shut down. =P
The only music award in town - Singapore Hits Awards (SHA) is being held 10 years running by 93.3 FM. But I feel that the credibility isn't there anymore, maybe it din even exists. The quality has deteriorated greatly too.
After watching the delayed telecast of SHA, I was totally disgusted by itz sloppy editing. The program is 2.5 hrs long and they have to sacrifice the song performances and Thank You speeches for their revenue!? Dun they have a lil respect for the singers and winners?
And speaking about credibilty, I cannot understand how did the BEST selling female artiste album & OVERALL best selling album awards go to Sun Ho??? Her album din top the sales charts, her songs aren't hits and I turned down two free copies of her "hot-selling" album. *Dang*
Who are the panel of judges of this music award? There are more than 6 nominations per category. Any gate-keeping there? SHA juz reminds me of those Hong Kong music awards. Like distributing zhu rou (pork chops). Whoever attends the award ceremony gets an award!? Or that the organiser knows who are winners way beforehand and only invite them over?
Now, I watch the show only for itz performances. I dun care who wins or not. But I really hope that the organiser (93.3 FM) can learn from the Taiwanese Golden Melody Awards. At least itz far more credible. Oh by the way....Tanya Chua, David Tao, Jacky Cheung & Stefanie Sun sang well. =P
Are they nice?? From Ebase. U can be critical but do ignore the fat girl who's wearing the skirts.
Indeed, Mummy rejoiced when I showed her my skirts. She even told me to save these skirts for Chinese New Year 2004. *jaw drops* But she did ask me (twice) if I would wear them. I shrugged my shoulders. Seeing me in doubt, she threatened, "You BETTER wear them!" Yes Mum! *salutes*
Yippie!!!! Blogger's server is back. Have been trying since afternoon. And itz old posting layout is back too. I encountered so many probz with the new layout yesterday. Still used to bloggin with the old one. =)
How often do u see a tomboy buying or wearing a skirt? Or should I ask, how often do you see ME buying or wearing a skirt?
For those who know me and go out with me often, would know that I'm always dressed in jeans/pants/bermz. Skirts? Almost never.
But yesterday, I bought 2 skirts! *Ta-ta-ta-Ta* Thanks to the magic word -"SALE". And the happiest person to hear this news would be my Mummy. She always want me to dress and behave like a girl. But I juz disappoint her again n again. 90% of the skirts I own were bought by her. =P
Forking out money to buy skirts esp. when I'm broke? I can't believe that either. But I really like the skirts. Will I wear them? Erm.....that's for u to guess and anticipate. Haha.
And for your info, I have many skirts lying in my wardrobe collecting dust. So these 2 might be juz go into the dust-collecting collection too. Who knows?
Went back again. The last time was on the Speech Day a month ago. This time is to give the teachers their belated Teacher's Day prezzies. Yakai n I are the only two who care for our teachers coz we baked cookies, cross-stitched handphone chains, wrapped them up nicely and hand delievered them.
See what we've done.
Delicious, aren't they?
Nice?? Done by me. Chinese words are tough to stitch. =P
Together with Yakai's work. Hers are nicer. Coz mine are last minute work.
Our last initials are stitched at the back. K= ya Kai Y= xu yun S= hui Sian H= shu Hua. Play ard with the initials. HS= Hui Sian, SH= Shu Hua, YK= Ya Kai oppz....I'm the odd one out. No "X" there. Heh.
Tada!! Prezzies ready for deliver.
Love to visit the teachers. It's warm and loving. Especially when they ask the same question, "So, what are you doing now?" and we have to start explaining to them all over again. =)
A nice long chat with Mrs Yang (Sec 1 form teacher) is a must whenever we're back. She even brought us on a "Staff Room" tour. Found a huge treadmill in the pantry. Haha. Oh another new discovery was that Mrs Yang and Mr Wong (Sec 1 Science teacher) are both Hainanese. I told them in Hainanese that I don't know how to speak the dialect. Stupid.
When we visited our Sec 4 Maths teacher, Mr Yap, he kept urging both of us to take up accountancy. "Good prospects and high in demand", according to him. But Mr Yap, isn't that too late for me to learn now!? In fact, I hate it. Mr Yap is retiring soon, so is Mrs Yang. Not sure if we can still keep in touch with them. I'll sure try.
Last stop - Library. The library is always our playground. Itz a must to visit it, not forgetting Mrs Thomas, the chief librarian-in-charge. Once a librarian, always one. When YK n I saw a pile of unwrapped books on the table, we immediately volunteered to wrap them. I'm pretty "impressed" with the librarians who cut the plastic wrappers. Some wrappers were cut so "artistically" that I don't bear to wrap the books with them. But I still did.
Of coz our hardwork is rewarded - with a cup of soya bean and Ching Cao drink. =)
I'm back!! Miss me?? Though I've only been away for a day?
At last, I spent some quality time with Karene & Jill. Dun really meet them up often. On Saturday, we went shopping at Stadium Cove (Kallang). I was the 'sinner of the day'. Coz I din get Karene's prezzie n still owe Jill hers. And both of them were reminding me about how thoughtful they were for my last bday when they cooked a sumptuous lunch for me. *look down in guilt*
Anywayz, Karene liked a small pouch alotz and asked me to get it for her as a bday prez. I tot of buying Banana Yoshimoto's book for her but she wanted the pouch so I juz got that instead. In fact, her decision saved me some money. Heh. Then, Jill din have enough cash for her dress so I forked out $10 for it. Later, she decided that the 10 bucks will be her bday prez too. Though both of them got their "gifts" and my problems are solved, I'm still labelled the 'sinner' and the 'insincere'. Maybe they shld juz read my previous blog. Hmmm.....
On our way back to Kallang MRT station, we walked passed by a motor car company. There were many dogs and previously 3 of them followed Karene & Jill to Stadium Cove before meeting me. And on our way back, one of them (white furry dog) escorted us. We were so afraid that it will follow us in to the MRT station so we told it to go back and it really did. So obedient. So adorable. We were all in love witht the dogs.
Back to Karene's house, itz already about 1am. After bathing, washing up and cooking instant noodles to eat, we watched Jay Chou's vcd and a Jap horror flick - Ju-On. Finally, we slept at 4.30am. I din sleep well. In fact, I woke up several times esp in the morning when Karene's pomeranian kept barking. My back hurts too.
Itz off the Causeway Point Swensen's for brunch. It'z a yummy and filling one. And to digest the food we ate, Karene and I went shopping! We din go home empty handed too. She got herself a M)Phosis skirt and I bought a new bag. Thanks to her Heeren Bday offer card, I got my bag with a 25% discount. =) We shopped till pretty late - abt 930pm. Now, both my back n legs hurts.
